Below you'll find answers to some of the questions we're asked most often, including what to expect at your first appointment, how to prepare for your treatment, booking information, aftercare advice and accessibility. If you can't find the information you're looking for, we'd be delighted to hear from you and are always happy to answer any questions before you book.
Before Your Appointment
Do I need to book my massage or reflexology treatment in advance?
Yes. All treatments are by appointment only and should be booked in advance through our Treatments page. Appointments are subject to our booking and cancellation policy, and visits to our premises are by prior arrangement only. If you require a last-minute appointment, please email info@pebbleandstarcollective.co.uk and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
Do you accept walk-in appointments?
No. We don't offer walk-in appointments, as each treatment is individually prepared and tailored to the client. Advance booking helps ensure you receive the time and care you deserve.
Which massage or holistic therapy treatment is right for me?
If you're unsure which treatment to choose, don't worry. Before your appointment we'll discuss your health, lifestyle and wellbeing goals, then recommend the therapy that's most appropriate for you. Whether you're looking for deep relaxation, relief from muscular tension, support during a stressful period or simply time to restore balance, we'll help you choose the right treatment.
What happens during my first massage or reflexology appointment?
Your first appointment begins with a confidential consultation where we'll discuss your general health, medical history, lifestyle and what you'd like to achieve from your treatment. This allows your therapist to tailor the session to your individual needs and ensure it's both safe and effective.
What should I wear to my massage or reflexology appointment?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. If you're having a massage, some massage oil may remain on your skin afterwards, so it's best not to wear your favourite clothes. Jewellery such as watches, necklaces and bracelets should be removed before treatment to allow you to relax fully and to avoid oils coming into contact with them.
Do I need to remove clothing for my treatment?
Your comfort and dignity are always our priority. For massage treatments, only the area being worked on needs to be uncovered, and you will be professionally draped throughout the session. Reflexology is carried out fully clothed, with only your feet exposed.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Simply bring yourself. If you've completed your consultation form beforehand, please email it to us in advance or bring a copy with you.
How should I prepare before my treatment?
Please arrive on time and, if possible, avoid rushing. We recommend switching your phone to silent and allowing yourself some quiet time after your treatment to relax and enjoy the benefits of the session.
During Your Treatment
How long does a massage or reflexology appointment last?
Treatment times vary depending on the therapy you've booked. Please refer to the Treatments page for individual session lengths. Your first appointment may include additional consultation time.
Is reflexology painful?
Reflexology should not be painful. Some areas of the feet may feel more sensitive than others, which can indicate areas of tension, but the treatment is generally deeply relaxing. Pressure is always adjusted to suit your comfort.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment can be made by cash, bank transfer or card.
Health & Wellbeing
What are the benefits of massage therapy?
Massage therapy is widely used to encourage relaxation, ease muscular tension, improve circulation and support overall wellbeing. Many clients also report better sleep, reduced stress and an increased sense of balance after regular treatments.
What are the benefits of reflexology?
Reflexology is a gentle complementary therapy that encourages deep relaxation and supports the body's natural healing processes. Many people choose reflexology to help manage stress, improve their sense of wellbeing and create time for restorative self-care.
How often should I have massage or reflexology?
Everyone's needs are different. Some people enjoy monthly treatments to support their general wellbeing, while others benefit from more regular sessions during periods of stress, muscular tension or increased physical activity. Following your first appointment, your therapist can recommend a treatment plan that's appropriate for your goals.
Can I have massage or reflexology if I have a medical condition?
Many people with long-term health conditions can enjoy complementary therapies safely. However, some treatments may not be suitable in certain circumstances. During your consultation we'll discuss your medical history, medications, recent surgery and any health concerns so we can tailor your treatment appropriately or advise if another approach would be more suitable.
Can I have a massage during pregnancy?
Pregnancy massage may be suitable after the first trimester, depending on your individual circumstances. Please contact us before booking so we can discuss your needs and recommend the most appropriate treatment.
Do you treat children and older adults?
Yes. Treatments can often be adapted for both younger and older clients following prior discussion. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please let us know about any additional requirements when completing your consultation form.
What might I feel after a massage or reflexology treatment?
Many people leave feeling relaxed, lighter and more energised. Occasionally you may experience temporary tiredness, emotional release or mild muscular tenderness as your body adjusts following treatment. This is sometimes referred to as a healing response and usually settles within a day or two. Drinking plenty of water, resting and avoiding strenuous activity afterwards can help support your recovery.
Is everything I discuss during my appointment confidential?
Yes. Your consultation and treatment records are treated as confidential and your personal information is handled in accordance with our privacy policy and professional standards.
Booking, Locations & Practical Information
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, together with missed appointments, will be charged at the full treatment fee.
What happens if I arrive late?
Please arrive promptly to ensure you receive the full benefit of your treatment. If you arrive late, your session may need to be shortened to avoid delaying the next client's appointment. The full treatment fee will still apply.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes. Gift vouchers are available for all of our treatments and make thoughtful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Christmas and other special occasions. Vouchers can also be personalised with the recipient's name and your chosen message.
